The single stroke roll is arguably the easiest and the hardest rudiment at the same time. It's easy to play it slowly, but hard to play with perfectly balanced sound, evenness, flow and of course, speed. If you want an easier way to get your foot in the door with singles, then check out the single stroke roll in the "12 gateway rudiments" category. If you're ready for this challenge, jump right in (& as always we'll start slowly).
